NIH Funded MD-PhD Programs

*Compiled from the 2019/2020 cycle AAMC FACT Tables (B-8 and B-12).
Interview sent dates from SDN.
F30 data from NIH Reporter. All active projects as of 05/31/2020 were downloaded. See caveats.
All other is either directly from programs or their websites.
Please send any corrections, additions, and updates to mdphdinformation@gmail.com
Keep in mind some programs offer subsidized housing (NYC programs) and others offer significant additional funds for use on travel/supplies like laptops. Some have stipends that increase over the years, and some do not.

A caveat of the MCAT data is that "higher tier" programs typically have matriculants who have taken the exam once and done great while other programs may have matriculants with a retake and so an individual's best MCAT take may be higher than their average.

Active (as of May 31, 2020) F30 data was downloaded from NIH Reporter. The list was searched and every student not associated with an MSTP was googled to check if it was a student doing the grad work with an allied institution. The list was not cleared of DVM/PhD, DDS/PhD students as their numbers are typically quite low. F31 (diversity) data was not included. There are also other great and competitive fellowship programs not included in the data. Different programs have different attitudes about F30s and a great program can have a low number of active F30s just because they do not require everyone to apply. Yet, it still requires a lot of mentoring and feedback to get an F30 and is a positive thing to see.
01/20/2021 - (1.81) Fixed errors in AAMC data. Updated Mt Sinai info.
01/03/2021 -(1.8) Refreshed AAMC data. Updated program info from Google form. Updated residency match for MUSC. Added advice page and change log.

Each program has received an email to update us with your information and the Google Form will continue to be checked intermittently.

If you are a current student and want to share advice or lessons learned, please contribute to our new advice page .

This site is meant to help students learn about programs across the country. We hope to make this especially useful for students from underrepresented groups and whose universities have less experience with the MD-PhD track and admissions.

For applicants, please keep in mind that there is way more to programs than you will find on this website, including some of the most important characteristics like the feel of the mstp community. If a program shares information that is not necessarily flattering, I think they deserve credit for transparency. Data availability is important and we hope this website helps with that.

IS in Applicants and Matriculants = In-state
W in director demographics = Woman

For the GPA/MCAT sections, (A) = accepted students, (M) = matriculants, (I) = interviewed. If it is not noted, we did not record which population the stats refer to.

URM in STEM refers to the percentage of the MSTP students who are underrepresented minority in STEM students.

‡Please check with programs about their CASPer requirements. All medical schools that require it are listed on the CASPer website. Not all MSTPs require the exam even if the medical school does.
